The Drama's first season is set in the twilight of the Edwardian Era (1912-1914), in the stately home of
the Earl of Grantham named Downton Abbey, during the reign of King George V. It follows the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and the servants who work for them.
Highclere Castle in Berkshire was used as Downton Abbey, with the servants' living areas constructed and filmed at Ealing Studios.
